The Oklahoma Preacher Training Camp (OK PTC) is a unique camp designed to help young men develop their ministry skills. It is a very focused camp where the student will spend time in the classroom learning how to study the Bible, develop an outline and deliver a sermon. They will also have classes on personal evangelism, leadership, family ministry, and more.
The dates of the camp will be July 27 - August 1, 2008. This is a Sunday through Friday. We will have a banquet on Friday evening. After the banquet, the camp will officially conclude. We will provide housing until Saturday morning for those campers that need to stay due to distance of travel.
Due to the nature of this camp, we have limited the number of spots to 15 campers. We will select those 15 young men based on their applications and recommendation forms. We hate to limit this camp at all, but with the time that it will take to deliver 15 sermons on Friday, and with the amount of material that we will be sharing, it is a necessity. The application and recommendation form must be postmarked by July 13, 2008. All applications will receive a response letter by July 21. We are not responsible for lost mail. If you would like to call and make sure that we received your application and recommendation form feel free to do so.
The camp will be held at the North MacArthur church of Christ building. The facilities here are equipped with a kitchen, bathrooms and showers. Each young man will have a twin air mattress that they will be able to sleep on. Each one will be assigned to a group and will have counselors to work with. (You will find a list of the staff in the following pages.)
We will have activities off campus everyday. Some of the possible activities will be bowling, basketball, laser tag and going to Bricktown.
The cost for the camp is $50.00 per student. (Many times the student’s home congregation will cover the cost.) This will be due the first day of camp. This covers all activities, meals, and class materials. The only additional money that might be needed is optional spending money for the afternoon activities.
There will be a dress code for our class times and worship times. You will need to wear nice pants (other than jeans) and a collared shirt. For your sermon delivery, you will need to wear nice pants, a shirt and tie, and a jacket is suggested.
Tuesday, July 29, will be “Bring Your Preacher Day.” We want each student to invite his preacher to come to the camp at 8:30 AM to attend the morning classes and eat lunch with the campers.
If selected, further instructions regarding what to bring will be included in the acceptance letter.
